SPIR 2020-2021: VOLUME I

Lokniti-Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), in collaboration with Common Cause, has been preparing a series of baseline documents titled the ‘Status of Policing in India Report’ (SPIR). Two editions of the report - SPIR 2018 and SPIR 2019 have already been published. Based on a sample of 6881 interviews from 11 states, the third in the series, SPIR 2020-2021, Volume I- Policing in Conflict-Affected Regions was released online on April 19, 2021. The release was followed by a panel discussion on "Can Extrajudicial Killings be the State Policy?" by Meeran C Borwankar, former DG & Police Commissioner, Prakash Singh, former DGP, Chairman IPF, Sudhir Krishnaswami, VC, NLSIU, and Patricia Mukhim, Editor, The Shillong Times. Justice Madan B Lokur gave the Keynote Address on the topic, "Is the Rule of Law Backsliding in India? Our Challenges in the 2020s".
