NES 2019: Inviting Question Suggestions
The Lokniti programme at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies has had an unbroken tradition of conducting a National Election Study (NES) during every Lok Sabha election held in the country since 1996. With the 2019 elections approaching, it is time for us to begin the preparations for yet another NES round. In an effort to innovate and broaden the process, we have planned to introduce new methods to the survey designing exercise of NES 2019. This has been done to entertain multiple voices and bring in a diverse range of opinions in our research inquiry. People belonging to the academia, to civil society, to politics and anyone else with a keen interest in political analysis and research are invited to freely participate in the process and contribute with their suggestions. All suggestions will be kept private and will only be used for the explicit purpose of survey research. The final questionnaire would only be released with the release of the survey findings.
We have identified some broad themes for the survey. These themes have been selected considering their importance in the national debate today, and the likelihood of greater discourse around these as we move closer to the elections. You are welcome to contribute to as many themes as you would like. The idea behind this is to diversify the process and entertain as many points of view as possible. In this process therefore, your ideas and suggestions will be an invaluable tool in creating inclusive and nuanced research on elections in the country.
