Harishwar Dayal is currently a Professor at the Institute for Human Development (IHD) and the Director of its Eastern Regional Centre, Ranchi. He has teaching and research experience of more than 25 years. He, earlier, was in the department of Economics at St. Xavier’s college, teaching Economics to the undergraduate and post-graduate students. He, at present, is on lien from the college.

Though, his core area of research is Labour Economics and Development Economics including Human Development; but has interest in election studies as well. He has been involved in surveys conducted by the CSDS for more than a decade and as a coordinator for the state of Jharkhand, he conducted the National Election Studies (NESs) of the years 1998, 1999, 2004, and 2009, various rounds of bi-annual surveys, Survey for the “State of Democracy in South Asia” (SDSA), for the “State of the Nation Survey” (SONS) and various other studies in the state of Jharkhand.

  • “Baseline Assessment study of learner’s Achievements and Its Determinants” The Report was submitted to Sir Ratan Tata Trust in July 2009.
