Mirza Asmer Beg is Professor in the Department of Political Science, at the Aligarh Muslim University, India. His doctoral work was awarded the 'best dissertation prize' by the American Studies Research Centre, Hyderabad for the year 1996. He specializes in Strategic Studies. He also has a keen interest in electoral studies and Muslim Politics in India. He is the State Coordinator (U.P. West) for the surveys conducted by the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies. He is a Fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminars, Austria.
